Arnold Lewis took over from Joe Wolfman as Jewish community archivist in April 2006, but his interest in Deane Road Cemetery had started many years before. Here are some photos he took which show the extent of the fly-tipping that was still ongoing at that time from several houses on Chiswell Street:

The largest single piece of fly-tipped refuse was this old

 sofa! It must have taken several people to throw this over the 12 ft boundary wall of the cemetery

 
     
 
These photos provide an idea of the mentality of some of Liverpool's less thoughtful residents. Thankfully, all the refuse you see here was removed in two inter-faith clear-up days later that summer.
