Jane Kennedy, MP for Liverpool Wavertree, with genealogist Saul Marks at Deane Road Cemetery. Mr Marks, junior treasurer at Liverpool's Princes Road Old Hebrew Congregation, has spearheaded a restoration scheme for the cemetery, which is the property of the shul. At last Friday's clearing-up session more that 50 volunteers from the community and local churches tackled litter. The cemetery, which opened in 1837 and functioned until 1904, has recently had more than 40 tons of material removed from the site.
